<p><strong>What exactly is Network Marketing</strong></p>
<p>Generally your route to market will only be through a network of distributors – people that like your product or service enough to recommend it to their friends, family and other people they know. In return for this you compensate them with part of the profits from that sale. The distributor can also go out and find other distributors to build a team which they then earn from when they make a sale (*Note* in the UK it is illegal to pay distributors for recruiting other distributors as this would make it a pyramid scheme). When someone becomes a distributor for you, they start their own business. you can’t tell them when to work or how many hours they have to do.</p>
<p>There are different structures for network marketing businesses such as Binary, Breakaway, Uni-level, Matrix or a combination of these systems. However I’m not going to go into each system here.</p>
<p>Network Marketing will work with almost any product or service, however it works best with a service that is used on a consistent basis by the consumer, without the distributor having to go back for repeat sales, they then get paid a percentage on those services every month and after a period of time, the distributor can build an excellent residual income. With a product, the distributors has to have to make sales every month, so at the beginning of the month they start at £0.</p>
<p>Like a franchise, generally you will have to charge the prospective distributor, a fee to join your company, this will prove they are serious, but also cover your costs of training them and getting them started with any marketing material, also like a franchise, you may have to charge them a monthly fee, this covers your overheads involved. If you didn’t charge a fee you’d then have a lot of people getting your marketing materials and being trained and then not doing anything with their business, this would eventually put you out of business.</p>
<p>With a network marketing strategy, you’ll need to have your distributors doing a minimum amount of activity, before they get paid, or get paid full commission by retailing the products or the service, otherwise you’d have people just signing up distributors and no one retailing will equal no money coming in to the business.</p>

<p>I like to think of marketing as the lifeblood of your business. Oxygen is taken into your lungs and from there ends up by osmosis finding its way into your blood cells, the blood circulates throughout your body, pumped round by your heart, feeding, nurturing it, making certain all the organs do their jobs and that limbs function and the brain works, powering everything. Marketing, in a way, can be thought of similarly.</p>

<p>With the economic outlook starting to improve, many businesses are starting to look at ways to grow and expand their presence. Even with limited funding, it is not difficult to increase the size of a business substantially.</p>
<p>Think about all of the services that customers like to use for free. They can be a virtual treasure trove of resources for a company to market to their target demographic. There are many websites out there that will allow people or organizations to create free classified ads, where they can sell items, products or services. With a carefully planned ad, an organization could use this site for lead generation or general advertising. Many businesses also open a business social networking account. This gives them the opportunity to market directly to a potential client list that people ask to be on.</p>
<p>It is also common that companies will create marketing partnerships with other local companies to synergize their efforts. An example of this would be a car dealership giving a customer a coupon book for discount car washes at the car wash down the road. The discount on the car washes is a value to the customer, because it saves them money and could be an enticement that draws business. It will also help to drive customers to the car wash, so that new car owners can keep their car paint looking new longer. Local marketing agreements can be made with multiple companies at a time, so always keep an eye open for new opportunities.</p>
<p>A modification of the marketing partnership would be bartering for services. This will allow companies to still acquire necessary supplies, but also save available capital for other aspects of the business. An example of this would be a person who owns an embroidery shop, trading embroidered clothing to an insurance agent for their liability insurance. Since they are trading, there is no cash coming out of pocket on either side, and both sides are saving money since they are providing the service at their cost.</p>
<p>Finally companies can increase their social marketing by providing products or services to a nonprofit organization, and use it as both an advertising opportunity as well as a public relations opportunity. If a company were to sponsor an event, then they can invite the media and get extra exposure to the local area. They also will generate good will with the community for helping with the event.</p>
<p>These options will help a company market locally no matter what shape the economy is in. Using these methods and others like it, will give a company a good head start in expanding their market share in that area.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The process of branding your business can be quite daunting as you need to look at various issues. Are you going to be an expensive brand for your industry, or just try to keep pace with the average guy? In almost every industry – be it dental, law, medicine, automotive, or grocery store, there are the high priced leaders and we all generally know what to expect. And why is that? It is because these leaders have ‘branded’ themselves in this fashion. They have taken the time and effort to let their customers and clients know what to expect before that client even walks in the door.</p>
<p>Let’s go to the example of Mercedes Benz – you all know that tri star symbol seen at every dealership. Mercedes has made it their hallmark to appear to be the best of the best of the best…..you get the picture. And because they promote high quality, long lasting automobiles, they are able to charge a premium for it. Unlike Hyundai, a low price leader, Mercedes can sell fewer vehicles, but at a higher cost, and therefore do quite well for themselves.</p>
<p>As a dentist, I made every effort to become the best I could in the industry by taking as many advanced training courses as I could possibly find. I became what is called a ‘Master Dentist’ at the prestigious Institute for Advanced Dental Studies out in Las Vegas (we all joked a lot about the location!) and used that on my website and business cards to brand myself as an expert in cosmetic dentistry and crown work. It really made my office the ‘Go To’ place for such procedures. To this day, 5 years after retiring, the practice is still seen as a premier office for such procedures as the doctor who took over continued with the training and did the same as I did.</p>
<p>Even a grocery store can brand itself – look at Wegman’s for example. If any of you are not familiar with this store, I can tell you that it is a high end place, with in store bakery, coffee shop, restaurant area, buffet, salad bar, and they even serve freshly cooked Maine lobsters! Customers expect their prices to be slightly higher for most items because the quality is so high. The other end of the line is the Acme store located in some small towns across the country. This place has little to no advertising and relies on local customers to keep them busy. They have no frills and would never consider selling caviar or lobster. They have branded themselves as the low price, no-nonsense store.</p>
<p>When it comes to branding your business there are lots of issues to consider but the level of quality you choose must be adhered to at all times. It would not be worthwhile to sell caviar when you are supposed to be the low price leader in the business. Your customers would become confused and end up wandering elsewhere for their groceries. If you are the high priced automobile leader, you would not want to sell a car that lands in the shop every month – by the way, I actually DO have one of those cars. There is nothing more frustrating than taking your car to the dealer one day and when it is supposedly ‘fixed’ you notice the “check engine” light is on again as you drive it out of the dealer’s parking lot. This has actually happened to me a number of times with this car. Oh well, some days are better than others.</p>
<p>So in your branding endeavors, keep it simple and straight forward. Send the same message day in and day out so that your customers can count on you being there for them. Decide what you are offering the customer and never vary from that decision. This alone will bring customers to your door with much less effort. And low effort advertising is a great thing in any business.<br />
